They are only bootleg if you don't have legit access to them, and they've been putting out betas about once a month for the better part of a year. I'm not personally on the beta team but a friend of mine is, if you can tell me of some movies that use ArcOSS I would be interested in testing the latest Mac the Ripper beta. The main guy developing the software believes that current betas overcome any copy protection, I'm sure he would be (bitterly) delighted to know of exceptions to this.

They only reason I rip to AVI is because that is what my Philips DVP-642, and for that matter most of the DVD players being sold today, will play.

: 3) For AVI playback, have you tried VLC ? It's available for just about any
: OS and it plays a lot of funky shit QT doesn't.

I keep VLC and Mplayer around as last resorts...
