: That's what I thought when I first saw the previews. However, before seeing
: the movie, I saw an interview with Frank Miller about that and he said
: that the Persians, the wolves, elephants, etc are monsters to the Spartans
: and so they are portrayed as monsters in the movie. Could have been some
: Hollywood BS to cover up that they just wanted to add some Lord of the
: Rings sci-fi/fantasy element to the story, but I thought it was a
: reasonable enough explanation so that I could suspend disbelief and not be
: too distracted by it.
Yeah, I suppose that's reasonable... Even still, in that case, it would have been nice if they were less CGish looking. Also, wolves hunt in packs–So, he shouldn't have just fought one, he should have had to fight several.
Anyhow, it was indeed a pretty good movie. I was a little confused by the marketing. They said that it was "From the creator of Sin City." I hate when they use that "Creator" title. I think of a movie as being created by the director, and as such was afraid this would be poorly directed, as I thought Sin City was. It turns out that by "creator" they merely meant "guy who's comic book we based this movie on."
