My work with spreadsheets is pretty minimal, and I don't have to work with any old spreadsheets, so for my purposes I think it's adequate. Thing is, when I do make a spreadsheet I spend more time making it look nice than I do working with the data, and that's where Numbers 'excels'.
...and I suppose on a MBP just about anything is fast, and Numbers is no different.
