: For shits and giggles, I changed my color depth to thousands and could barely
: notice a difference (on my MBP). The white background of web pages was the
: most noticeable thing oddly enough. If I looked vlosely I could see the
: dithering, but I didn't really notice it.
Don't worry about it Zach, JT is just looking to bitch about something (as usual). Seriously, the guy doesn't work in the general IT industry in the first place, let alone the very specific graphics industry where one might have a valid complaing about this on. In other words, he's pissing and moaning about something that doesn't affect his life and blowing what would be a valid complaint or gripe (to a proffesional that the differece would actually matter to $$$ wise) out of proportion. The displays are good and while they aren't perfect, that's to be expected. Upgrading hardware while reducing the costs means there will be cost cutting occuring and this might simply be an example of that.
: Also, I used SwitchResX and found my LCD panel to be the 9C60 model. I
: couldn't find a whole lot on it except that in some forums, people claimed
: "it is better". Better than what, I don't know.
Exactly. If you cannot tell the difference with the naked eye and have to use software to tell you what is being displayed, it obviously isn't a major drawback...
