So far, Mac Office 2008 is actually a huge improvement. Mostly b/c of PowerPoint.
Let me first say that if I weren't required to use Office at work, I'd probably make the effort to switch to iWork, but as it is, I get enough flack for insisting on having a Mac (which I provided myself).
Now onto PP. v 2004 crashed like crazy, and if you cut and paste graphs from excel 2004, the results were largely unpredictable (and often crashed both programs!) Now in v 2008, not only do graphs cut and paste properly, without formatting changes and without crashing, but you can edit the graphs exactly like you'd be able to in excel. This is fucking great! Finally!
As for Excel 2008, I'd say it's about as good as before. I haven't had any problems with it yet at least. And I haven't even used Word 2008 yet so that may have some unwelcome surprises.
Maybe I shouldn't be complimenting the MacBU for finally making something work properly.
